WHY?
In the increasingly multinational societies we find ourselves living in, an International understanding and cross-cultural awareness is more important than ever. The Worldwider Project recognises this, and seeks to give a voice to young artists all over the planet through the medium of collaborative mail art. The central aim of the project is to explore people’s cultures, views and opinions through various forms of art, as well as exploring how art is manipulated by through travel.
WHAT?
Some very long rolls of paper, pieces of cardboard, foam, postal boxes, polystyrene, soy sauce, Wasabi, coffee, thread, paint, ink, pens and many an open mind.
THEN?
The work will travel all around the globe by mail. For every strand of the project, multiple artists will work on the same piece, using absolutely what ever medium they feel happy with; painting, drawing, or even sewing next to and onto each others work. Each piece will be created and evolve while being sent around the Globe. The main piece of this project is a large roll of paper, but this concept can work on any material and with whatever postal method. There will be a series of mini-projects taking place in parallel to the roll being painted on.
WHO?
So far artists chosen for this project are coming from all over the world, over 20 different nationalities have taken part so far.
